Biografie Gesangverein Hofbieber
Der Gesangverein Hofbieber ist ein traditionsreicher gemischter Chor mit über 60 Mitwirkenden. Gegründet im späten 19. Jahrhundert, widmet sich der Chor seit weit über 100 Jahren kirchenmusikalischer wie auch weltlicher Literatur.
Hofbieber ist ein beschaulicher und wunderschön gelegener Ort in der Rhön vor den Toren der berühmten Barockstadt Fulda (Hessen). Die Rhön ist Ausflugsziel für viele Urlauber aus der ganzen Welt, die hier unbeschwert in guter, frischer Luft die herrlichen Aussichten des Mittelgebirges (Wasserkuppe, Milseburg …) auf preisgekrönten Premium – Wanderwegen genießen können. Eine ausgezeichnete Gastronomie und Hotellerie sowie private Ferienwohnungen und Zimmer mit Frühstück sorgen für höchstes Wohlgefühl.
Der Gesangverein Hofbieber verbindet in seinem Wirken, das vom Vorstand gemeinsam mit dem Dirigenten in großer Harmonie gesteuert wird, große kirchenmusikalische Aufführungen mit Orchester sowie jährliche Chor – Serenaden mit unterschiedlichen programmatischen Schwerpunkten. Alle diese Veranstaltungen sind überregional bekannt und erfreuen sich höchster Popularität.
Nach Konrad Mader, der den Chor jahrzehntelang geschult und geprägt hat, übernahm Mathias Dickhut im Anschluss an seine sechsjährige Tätigkeit als Music Director of the German School Washington (Potomac, Maryland) im Jahr 2002 die Leitung des Chores. Herr Dickhut studierte Dirigieren bei Helmuth Rilling (Frankfurt), Martin Behrmann (Berlin) und David Thorson (Eugene, Oregon).
In seiner Zeit in Washington leitete er neben dem Chor der Deutschen Schule den Washington Sängerbund und vereinte beide Chöre immer wieder in großen Aufführungen in der Washington Area.

The Gesangverein Hofbieber is a tradition-steeped mixed choir with over 60 singers. For over a 100 years, since its foundation in the late 19th century, the choir has dedicated itself to spiritual and secular works. Hofbieber is a picturesque little village situated in the Rhön, only a stoneÂÂÂ’s throw away from the baroque city of Fulda. The Rhön is a well-liked destination for travelers from all over the world, who happily enjoy the good fresh air as well as the beautiful scenery while hiking on award-winning tracks. Great food, hotels, vacation apartments and B&B accommodations make the region even more enjoyable.
Being in great accordance in their projects, the conductor, the board, and the singers combine spiritual concerts with orchestra yet also perform a-cappella serenades with different themes annually. These concerts are well-known beyond city borders and enjoy great popularity.
Mathias Dickhut, who acted as music director of the German School, Washington D.C. for six years, took over as conductor from Konrad Mader in 2002, who had lead and shaped the choir for decades. Mr. Dickhut studied music and conducting in Frankfurt, Berlin and Eugene, Oregon. Among his mentors were world-renowned conductors like Helmut Rilling (Frankfurt), Martin Behrmann (Berlin) and David Thorson (Eugene). During his time in Washington D.C. he lead the Choir of the German School as well as the Washington Sängerbund and time and again combined the two choirs in big concerts in the greater Washington area.
